Journey to the cross…

This week marks holy week, it commemorates one of the most poignant weeks for Christians, as we remember and follow the journey to the cross and celebrate the resurrection on Easter Sunday. The event that brings to mind so much about Jesus’ suffering as he was betrayed, arrested, wrongly accused, rejected, beaten, tortured and died for the cause which he did not commit; but all for love. A story which is made all the more scandalous when Jesus conquers death and resurrects three days later, as he had previously preached about (yet it was a shock even to his disciples who had followed him for 3 whole years).
‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son. that who so ever believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life.' - john 3:16

In the quest of trying to make this blog a little bit more versatile and inclusive, I have now opted on discovering new ways of shaking things up a notch... Bringing on some creative, cool, collected minds and generally people who are open to sharing a little bit of themselves whilst highlighting topics they feel passionate about. The purpose of this blog is so much more than just random rants, It is about using people in my surrounding whom I admire to pour out their gifts and souls to you guys for a little dollop of inspiration.the journey has just got interesting. This is a very exciting new conquest that also requires your precious feedback. But in the mean time, Happy reading!! :) Fufu

Words by “El” Rehema Mussanzi

I was watching a TED Talk this morning by Lisa Bu entitled “How books can open your mind” in which she shares her unique approach to reading with an enthusiastic audience in Long Beach, California, when I had an epiphany. About half way through the talk she made a comment which sparked me to examine what we, as human beings, consider to be the art of being happy. She said “it’s through translation that I realised ‘happiness’ in Chinese literally means ‘fast joy’”. Really! Fast joy?

Well, it occurred to me that the one question we all ask ourselves at varying points in life is what is the goal of living? How does one live a happy life?

The need for self-discipline

The time has come! The one that was highly anticipated yet with so much energy it has already drained me. I was looking forward to 3rd year of University but nothing prepared me for this. It's as if if January was just yesterday. My mind can't seem to fathom just how on earth April is upon us. For me, this month holds a particular significance. It's a month that will make or break me. It's what I've been looking forward to since the beginning of this degree, seeing just how far I've come. And with no information of where I'm heading after this chapter of my life is over, I open up my arms and I embrace the mistery.

Another year, another chance to get it right!!

Allow me to take this opportunity to wish you all a  H A P P Y   N E W    Y E A R !! Full of 'Furaha' (Joy), 'Salama' (Peace), and 'Baraka' (Abundant blessings) indeed in all you do. There's a little Swahili lesson you weren't expecting. :) I proclaim that 2013 is going to be a good year for me!! Just reflecting on what 2012 offered is overwhelming. Through tears and laughter, each day brought forth more HOPE. I have come to a conclusion that it was most certainly a year of new discovery, 'Out with the Old, In with the New'. The year I started Blogging, and as most say, So far so good!
The journey had been a fascinating one, and rather tricky at first. I always knew taking this up would sometimes mean putting a little bit of myself out there to the world. A little bit of my soul, my personality, my frustrations, my fears and Joy. It's been amazing being able to document my journey through this platform and for that I smile.

Praise you in the storm!

Exactly 2 weeks ago yesterday the city of Goma (eastern Congo) was captured by the rebel group M23. Fear crippled me. Fear of the unknown, and my heart went out to the mass population of the city and the surrounding area. Amongst them were some of my family members, close relatives and friends. The innocent civilians who's lives were placed under immense danger, who were terrified and therefore had no choice but to leave their homes and forced to become IDPs (internally displaced people). The fear of living in horrible conditions, lacking food or sanitation for themselves and their children, no roof over their heads but above all...simply not knowing whether they'll see another day!

Cold, Cake & Campaigning!!

So, It has been over a month since I last blogged! o_O...say WAHHHH?? Where oh where has time gone?! My life right about now mainly consists of chasing time. Needless to say the word 'BUSY' is far too inferior to fully fathom just how crazy the past few weeks have been!! The simply fact that I am writing this blog at 1am in the morning completely explains it all. I hear you ask WHAT is this thing that has been keeping me on my feet? Well, If I were to scribe a detailed description...this post would turn into a book, I swear! Thankfully, I've been learning a thing or two about getting to the chase...you know, not dragging things, endless round-abouts of stories, tales, explanations, everything. So this is my attempt to summarise briefly the journey to my true authenticity for the past 6 weeks.
